Quality Criteria

Helsinki Marketing offers open data in accordance with the following quality criteria:

Quality criteria for places

The place must be a physical location in Helsinki Region that is open to customers (no private spaces or office premises).

The following information must be submitted about the place: contact information, location, a description, opening hours, entrance fees (if applicable) and categories describing the service/operations.

Information about the place must be submitted in at least Finnish and English, and preferably also in Swedish. We recommend that international customers are taken into consideration in your operations.

Helsinki Marketing reserves the right to review and amend texts as needed, as well as to select suitable images for them. Please note that images can also be shared with third parties over the open API, so be sure to define the user rights for any of your own images.

Companies must be VAT liable and/or registered in the prepayment register. Company information can be found on the Business Information System YTJ: www.ytj.fi/en/.

Quality criteria for events

The event must be public, such as a cultural, sporting, science, startup, children’s or sales event, and it must take place in Helsinki Region.

The following information must be submitted about the event: contact information, location, a description, opening hours, prices and categories describing the event.

Information about the event must be submitted in at least Finnish and English, and preferably also in Swedish. We recommend that international customers are taken into consideration in your operations.

The information must be submitted at least one week before the start of the event.

Helsinki Marketing selects which events to publish and reserves the right to review and amend texts as needed, as well as to select suitable images for them. Please note that images can also be shared with third parties over the open API (application programming interface), so be sure to define the user rights for any of your own images.

Quality criteria for activities

The product must be easy to find and/or purchase on its own website or other online reservation system.

The product description, price, point of departure and duration must be presented in a clear and appealing way.

Information about the product must be submitted in at least English and the language of the target market, and preferably also in Finnish and Swedish.

The service provider must be able to serve customers in either the language of the target market or at least in English.

The service provider must comply with all applicable safety recommendations and guidelines, as well as the principles of sustainable development, and it must have a plan for implementing the principles of sustainable development in its activities.

Please note that images can also be shared with third parties over the open API (application programming interface), so be sure to define the user rights for any of your own images.

Quality criteria for images

Select appealing and high-quality images that best describe the place, service, event or activity. Do not add text, dates, watermarks or other elements on top of the image.

The image size should be 1920 x 1080 pixels, the file in JPEG format and the file size max. 4 MB. Images should also be in landscape format, if possible.

Images can also be shared with third parties over the MyHelsinki Open API, so be sure to define the user rights for any of your own images.

By uploading one or more images (hereinafter “Image”) to this portal maintained by Helsinki Marketing Oy (hereinafter “Helsinki Marketing”), you confirm that you own the intellectual property rights to the Image, you give Helsinki Marketing and third parties the right to use the Image as stipulated below, and you confirm that you are entitled to assign the chosen terms of use to the Image.

You can choose between the following terms of use for the Image:

1) Helsinki Marketing has the non-exclusive right, unrestricted by time or place, to make the Image available to the public in any publication media, as well as to reproduce the Image. Helsinki Marketing has the right to use the Image only for marketing and communications related to the event, activity or service for which the Image was produced. These user rights do not permit the Image to be used in a way that infringes the moral rights of its creator. The Image may not be modified without the written consent of the rights holder. However, the Image or any of its parts may be used freely in collages, for example, and the colours and format of the Image may be modified. Collages here refer to the combining of the Image or any of its parts to another or other images or text. In addition, Helsinki Marketing undertakes to mention the source and creator of the Image when using it. The terms of use described above includes the right to share the Image with third parties via the MyHelsinki interface. Third parties have the right to use the Image within the user rights granted to Helsinki Marketing. Helsinki Marketing undertakes to inform third parties of the contents and restrictions of its user rights.

2) Helsinki Marketing and third parties have the right to use the Image in accordance with Creative Commons BY 4.0 license terms. Helsinki Marketing undertakes to inform third parties that the Image can be used in accordance with the license terms and to make these terms known to third parties when making the Image available via the MyHelsinki interface.

Data Update Cycles

Helsinki Marketing gathers data from local businesses and residents, as well as from visitors. All information that is submitted to us is reviewed and inspected to ensure the quality of the texts and images. This process usually takes 1-2 workdays, after which the up-to-date information is made available also as open data. Helsinki Marketing is not responsible for the accuracy of the information.
